Last weekend my husband and I attended the open house at the Salzburg Modern Art Museum. I couldn't wait to go because the current exhibit is Toulouse-Lautrec and the Poster around 1900.
When I was in college I was fascinated with the bold, beautiful posters from this time period that often advertised hot cocoa, coffee, exotic liquors and unusual housekeeping items. I tried many times to replicate the feeling of these artworks in my drawings and sometimes hung them on my dorm room walls.
To anyone passing through Salzburg before June 2016, I would highly recommend stopping by the Museum der Moderne to take a peek! You'll be tickled by colorfully painted walls that set the posters off beautifully, and the life sized replica of a Paris street corner exploring the time period.
Here's my attempt at creating a little piece of art inspired by the show ;)
