I have always wanted to attend the 'Hoboken Secret Gardens Tour', ever since I moved to Jersey City many years ago. I thought it was kind of magical to think that all of these hidden gardens were hiding behind brick and stone brownstone building facades.
This past Saturday my husband and I ventured out in the cold and sprinkles to visit 10 gardens situated all over Hoboken. I was surprised to find him almost more engaged than me! He treated the whole day like a scavenger hunt.

I love the church in the background. It looks so 'city'!! |
The gardens presented were very interesting because some were wild and some were meticulous. Some were modern, and others more old fashioned. It was really an interesting mix of hidden places to enjoy.
This was my favorite garden - I loved everything about it. The pond, the swan stained glass windows outside and the Italian style balcony looking over the courtyard. So cool!
The tour was $25 per person - which benefits the Hoboken Historical Museum. I would definitely do it again, and hope there are even more gardens to see next year. Although it did take us a good 2 hours just to explore the 10 included.
If you live or love Hoboken, don't forget to purchase one of my Hoboken art prints - which is featured above in Sugar Suckle's new baking studio! Photo credit: Nadia Mian Photography.
