About a month ago I came across a simply adorable Instagram account featuring a hedgehog reading a book. I instantly fell in love with this little fellow who goes by the name of 'Mr. Bates'. I reached out to his rep to see if he might give Iggie's Gingerbread a chance.

Miniature Dime Cakes DIY

Miniature Dime Cakes DIY | Make Adorable Dollhouse Food Cakes The Size of a Coin! | Linzer Lane Blog

I tend to get really crazy ideas when it comes to crafting. Just like the day I looked at my cereal and saw fairy donuts ;) Well, I'm an avid ear plug user since I'm a very light sleeper. The other night I realized if I cut a set of new foam ear plugs up - they might look exactly like miniature sponge cake!

My experiment worked! All you need to make these adorable dime cakes, is a pair of beige colored foam earplugs. Cut them into sections as shown above.

Trace something small and round to make the plates for your cakes. I used watercolor paper for this.

Add some acrylic paint for icing and add some mini berries to complete your cake. I made my berries out of red crepe paper, but you could use clay or even red seed beads.

These dime cakes would be perfect for any fairy garden, dollhouse or miniature setting.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

The Cutest Paper Doll Ever

The Cutest Paper Doll Ever | Zoë the Tabby Cat | Linzer Lane Blog

I've been wanting to design a cute paper doll for quite some time. After developing the Linzer Lane character series this year, I thought Zoë would make the perfect candidate for getting dressed up!

The Cutest Paper Doll Ever | Zoë the Tabby Cat | Linzer Lane Blog

I drew her (with her night dress of course), and then sketched around her body to create three outfits. There is a brunch dress equipped with a strawberry handbag, a polka dot party frock (below) and a sewing outfit that features her sewing basket.

Not only can you dress Zoë up, but you can cut out all sorts of cute accessories to go with her outfits like a custom sewing machine, a cat mug and a heart handbag.

How to Make Fairy Donuts

How to Make Fairy Donuts | Linzer Lane | Miniature Food Tutorial

I posted a little video about a month ago on my Instagram feed sharing how to make these adorable fairy donuts - perfect for the tiniest tea party you can imagine. I thought I'd re-post them here to share with you all. If you love cute things, I know you will love this!
How to Make Fairy Donuts | Linzer Lane | Miniature Food Tutorial

All you need to make these adorable miniature donuts are some round cereal pieces (Cheerios work best!), acrylic paint and glitter. That's it!

Using a small paintbrush, carefully decorate each Cheerio with some bright, acrylic paint. For donut frosting pink, blue, peach and lavender work best.

Pinch a little bit of glitter with your fingers and add to the top of each donut for sprinkles while the paint is still wet. That way, no glue is needed!

Linzer Lane Character Collection 2017

Iggie the Hedgehog | Linzer Lane Blog

Iggie is a hedgehog gingerbread baker who loves collecting spices, drinking blueberry tea and playing checkers on his rare days off.

I'm so excited to announce my Linzer Lane character collection for 2017! These are characters I've created over the last two years and they appear in my children's books, coloring books and within various products that will be released this year.

Zinnie the Rabbit | Linzer Lane Blog

Zinnie the rabbit runs the local flower nursery on Linzer Lane. She is dear friends with Iggie and loves growing Zinnias, Cosmas and Gladiolas within her gardens.

Zoe the Tabby Cat | Linzer Lane Blog

Zoë the Tabby Cat runs a charming button shop that serves the community with darling glass, wooden, and clay buttons. She hosts a monthly 'Button Club' event where light refreshments are served.

Treat the Owl is brand new for 2017! I hope you enjoy him ;)
Treat the Owl | Linzer Lane Blog

Treat the Owl owns the local bookstore. Treat's store is unique, because he only carries cookbooks. His favorite cuisine is French. He never passes up a fresh baguette.

Which character is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below so I can create more books and products to enjoy this year.

Nautical Inspiration

Nautical Inspiration via the Little Owl Lane Blog

I have been busy brainstorming a cute, free printable that you might like for June - and I can't think of a better topic than something nautical. I have always loved all things related to the beach or the waterfront. Seagulls are awesome, seashells a thrill to collect, and mermaids pretty much enchant everyone. I created the above sailing bunny coloring page for my newsletter list, so make sure you're signed up so you don't miss it!

Working on this mermaid reminded me of childhood.
The goldfish paperweight is our keepsake from last year's trip to Murano Italy and I always keep it close by to look at and admire.
