Love is in the Air

Love is in the Air | New Valentine Coloring Book & Paper Doll by Linzer Lane

On this wonderful historic day, I'm happy to be blogging about something love related - the innocence of Valentine's Day. I've been looking forward to it so much this year - and have spent a good deal of time designing some products that highlight Linzer Lane's adorable new character, 'Resi the Raccoon'.

My son Leon for some reason has really taken to her, and talks about 'Resi' more than he does his truck toys, which of course gives me a big smile and a boost of confidence too!

As of today, you can now find all these sweet items in my online store. They are the perfect way to entertain little ones still in the throws of quarantine this winter.

Big News!

Linzer Lane | Artwork for Little Ones by artist Lady Lucas
**Hi All! Just wanted to share with you all my current plan to re-brand my online shop - with the name of this blog! Stay tuned for the new website coming soon**

Dear Loyal Baby Lucas Followers, I have a big announcement to share with you! I've decided, after much thought and soul searching, that going forward the name of my online shop and kids art brand will (soon be!) Linzer Lane. I began Baby Lucas a little over a year ago, while pregnant with our son Leon. The goal was twofold - to offer adorable baby gifts and artwork to families, while working at home so I could care for our new little one full time. This past year I have used every single nap and hour of spare time to create, print, ship and market Baby Lucas. It has been a wonderful experience that has allowed me to continue my career as an artist, all while being assisted daily by my mini co-worker. My initial vision for Baby Lucas was to offer a wide array of gifts for baby (clothing, plush toys, books), but slowly I started in realize that you were mostly looking for something quite simple - darling art prints for your child's space. Not only that, but out of all the many things I was creating, you were most taken with the world of my of my Linzer Lane animal characters.

*About Linzer Lane* In 2014 I moved abroad for two years with my husband to Salzburg, Austria. During that time I was enchanted with the lovely way of life there. The beautiful storefronts, immaculate cafes, alpine animals, and ornate holiday rituals. We lived on a street called 'die Linzergasse' - and I started to create characters that lived in an imaginary world inspired by our neighborhood. Ever since we moved back to the US in 2016, I have held and nurtured that experience within my artwork. I have grown to really love this little cast of animals, each with their own unique personality and story, and I hope their adventures will entertain and delight you throughout the year.

Can't wait for this new chapter to begin, and to continue offering you adorable artwork for little ones!

Much Much Love, Ashley (aka Lady Lucas ) & Leon (aka Moose)

Miniature Dime Cakes DIY

Miniature Dime Cakes DIY | Make Adorable Dollhouse Food Cakes The Size of a Coin! | Linzer Lane Blog

I tend to get really crazy ideas when it comes to crafting. Just like the day I looked at my cereal and saw fairy donuts ;) Well, I'm an avid ear plug user since I'm a very light sleeper. The other night I realized if I cut a set of new foam ear plugs up - they might look exactly like miniature sponge cake!

My experiment worked! All you need to make these adorable dime cakes, is a pair of beige colored foam earplugs. Cut them into sections as shown above.

Trace something small and round to make the plates for your cakes. I used watercolor paper for this.

Add some acrylic paint for icing and add some mini berries to complete your cake. I made my berries out of red crepe paper, but you could use clay or even red seed beads.

These dime cakes would be perfect for any fairy garden, dollhouse or miniature setting.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Please Welcome: Linzer Lane!

Herman the Groundhog by Lady Lucas
Herman the Groundhog - Expert Reviewer

My upcoming picture book, 'Iggie's Gingerbread', will feature a sweet cobblestone street called Linzer Lane. This got me to thinking that it would be a super idea to incorporate my new book series with this blog in some way.

So... starting next week, the web address for this blog will change over to 'Linzer Lane'. Don't be alarmed if you see a different name in your inbox!

Linzer Lane will feature five animal experts who cover crafts, travel reviews, foodie tips, floral design and drawing ideas. I think you'll really love it, so please stay tuned and don't forget to 'Follow by Email' if you haven't already!
